Forester's Hut

production

Plants new trees to keep the surrounding forest from being depleted.

Footprint sizes in Manor Lordsvary by patch and (for burgage plots) by how you draw them in-game. Use the planner's drag-to-size tool to match what you see on your map — we don't hardcode any dimensions here.

Where to place the forester's hut

  • Place it inside or right at the edge of the forest you are harvesting so foresters have room to replant nearby.
  • Pair its location with your Logging Camp and Woodcutter so planting and cutting happen in the same general woodland zone.
  • Make sure there is actual open or thinning forest ground around it where new trees can be planted.
  • Avoid surrounding it with buildings or fields that leave no land for replanting.
  • Keep it connected enough to the settlement that assigned workers can reach it, but it belongs out by the trees, not in the town core.

Strategy & timing

  • Build it once you are logging seriously and want the forest to stay viable rather than waiting until trees run out.
  • Think of it as paired with your wood-harvesting buildings; it sustains them rather than producing anything you sell or use directly.
  • If you only harvest lightly or have abundant nearby forest, you can delay it, but for firewood-dependent towns it is worth establishing early.

Common mistakes

  • ×Treating it as a wood producer; it plants trees, it does not cut or deliver logs.
  • ×Placing it where there is no room to replant, so the foresters have nowhere to work.
  • ×Building it only after the local forest is already gone, when recovery takes a long time.

Frequently asked

Does the Forester's Hut produce firewood or logs?

No. It plants new trees to keep the forest from being depleted. Your Woodcutter and Logging Camp are the buildings that actually produce firewood and logs.

Do I always need a Forester's Hut?

Not always. If you have abundant forest and only light logging, you may manage without one. But for settlements that rely heavily on firewood, it prevents deforestation over time.

Where should foresters plant trees?

They replant in the open and thinning woodland around the hut, so it needs to sit near the forest you are harvesting with land available for new growth.
