How to use the planner

  1. Pick a road, field or building from the list — down the left on a computer, in the strip above the sheet on a phone.
  2. Drag on the sheet to draw its footprint. The size shows as you drag; release to place it. The building stays picked, so you can draw a whole row of plots one after another.
  3. Switch to Select & move to rearrange: drag a building to move it, drag empty ground to pan. On a phone, tap a building first, then drag it.
  4. With a building selected you can Rotate, Duplicate or Delete it from the panel — or use R, Ctrl/Cmd+D and Del. Arrow keys nudge it one tile (five with Shift).
  5. Misclick? Ctrl/Cmd+Z undoes and Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+Z redoes. Even Clear can be undone.
  6. Toggle Walking distanceto colour the ground by how far it is from your nearest marketplace — green is close, red is far.
  7. Zoom with Ctrl/Cmd + scroll or the +/− buttons; Fit frames everything you have placed, and the corner button goes full screen.
  8. Share link copies a URL that opens this exact layout, and PNG downloads an image of it. Your latest layout is also kept in this browser, so it is still here when you come back.

Why drag-to-size? Manor Lordsburgage plots are sized by the player, and other building footprints can shift between patches. Rather than bake in numbers we'd have to guess, the planner lets you draw what you actually see in your game.

Common questions

What does this planner actually do?+

Sketch a Manor Lords settlement on a grid before you commit it in-game. Draw roads, fields and building footprints (burgage plots, marketplaces, granaries, workshops, etc.), move them around until the layout works, toggle the walking-distance overlay to see how far each spot is from a marketplace, and share the result as a link or PNG.

Is it free? Do I need to sign up?+

Yes, free, no signup. The planner runs entirely in your browser — no account, no install. Your layout is encoded into the page link, so bookmarking it (or sending it) keeps that exact layout, and the last layout you worked on is also remembered in this browser for next time.

Why are burgage plots drag-to-size instead of fixed?+

Manor Lords' burgage plots are sized by the player at placement — they're not a fixed footprint like other buildings. Rather than baking in a guess, the planner lets you drag the exact rectangle you'll place in-game. The footprint you sketch matches what you'll actually build.

What does the walking-distance heatmap do?+

Toggle it to colour the ground by how many tiles a villager would walk from your nearest marketplace, going around buildings (roads, fields and pasture can be crossed). Green is close, amber is middling, and red is 30 tiles or more. It is a planning aid measured in planner tiles — a quick way to spot plots that ended up far from any market — not a simulation of the game's own numbers.

Can I share my layout with a friend?+

Yes. Share link copies a URL that opens your exact layout, and they can carry on editing from there. Or use PNG to download an image cropped to your settlement, ready to drop into Discord.

Is it up to date with the latest Manor Lords update?+

The buildings and guides were checked against the official patch notes through Major Update #8 (August 2026). Buildings that are still in beta, like the Fishmonger, get added once they reach the main branch.

Does it work on mobile?+

Yes. On a phone the building list becomes a strip above the sheet. Pick a building and drag to draw it; with Select & move, a drag pans the sheet, and you tap a building first and then drag to move it. The full-screen button gives the sheet the whole display.
